Web design is one of my hobbies. The summer before my senior year of high school I taught myself how to use html. I began working on a site using notepad and a free program to upload my work.
After high school I took about four and a half years off from working with web design. In the winter of 2005 I decided that I wanted to create a new web site. I began with what I knew, but soon realized that it was no longer sufficient. That was when I discovered php. I taught myself how to use php and mysql and have over time created this site.
My first design for only a short time. The site was small so reworking the look didn’t take long. The next look then lasted only a few more months. At the beginning of May 2005 I finished the design for this site that I had been using for over a year. I wrote many new scripts that were fun for me to write. This summer I decided to redesign my site again, as well as rework all of my scripts using new techniques that I had picked up over the year. I wanted the design to be simpler and the code to be cleaner. I've also been working on methods to block those pesky spammers who send me messages through my email and guestbook scripts.
My primary goal in creating www.neicul.com was to share my photography with family and friends. At the same time that I began work on this site, I also began work on a project in creating ebooks for YanceyWare Reader. I decided to name my site using my online name in the YanceyWare forums, which is actually my middle name spelled backwards.
My accomplishments in web design not only include this site, but I have created two other sites aswell. I created both sites for students majoring in photography at Utah State University.

I use a variety of different scripts in this site many of which I have written. The scripts bellow I did not write however. I have found these scripts to be very useful and of a high quality.

MagpieRSS @ magpierss.sourceforge.net

As RSS feeds advanced, my old rss parsing program didn't. I had to drop it and find another. This program works wonderfully. I uploaded the script to my site and in second had a working news feed on my front page. And I was able to customize it to my liking without much trouble.

wz_tooltip.js 3.25 @ Koders.com

At the end of February I found a script that makes the cool mouseover pop-ups. I've been searching for quite a while for a script that could do exactly what this one does and was very excited when I finally found it.

phpThumb() @ phpthumb.sourceforge.net

I like how well this script works. All of my image thumbnails are generated with this script and cached for future use. Everything, inlcuding the caching, is customizable.
